Babysitter Broker
Privacy Policy
Effective date: September 18, 2026
About this Policy
This Privacy Policy explains how Babysitter Broker ("Babysitter Broker," "we," "us," or "our") collects, uses, discloses, retains, and protects personal information when you use our website, mobile or web application, Broker, messaging features, and related services (collectively, the "Service").
1. Information We Collect
Account and identity information. We may collect your name, phone number, email address, profile photo, account role, authentication information, city or general location, and other account details.
Parent and household information. Parents or guardians may provide family profile information, home or service location, household details, emergency information, childcare preferences, and information needed to coordinate care.
Child information provided by a parent or guardian. This may include a child's name or nickname, age or date-of-birth-related information, photo if the feature permits it, care instructions, routines, allergies, accessibility or safety information, and other details a parent chooses to provide for childcare purposes.
Caregiver profile information. Caregivers may provide experience, education, communities or affiliations, availability, preferred service areas, family preferences, profile information, references, certifications, and similar information.
Network and invitation information. We may process invitations, mutual connections, referral context, and contact information that users choose to provide or authorize for network-building features. We do not intend to upload or retain an entire address book unless the product expressly asks for and receives permission to do so.
Broker and request information. We collect childcare request details, dates and times, duration, location, children involved, notes, urgency, caregiver preferences, responses, acceptance status, cancellations, and related workflow data.
Communications. We may collect in-app messages, support communications, call-related metadata, emails, push-notification interactions, and SMS messages sent to or from Babysitter Broker. If you use Text the Broker, we may associate messages from your verified phone number with your account and Broker history.
Device and usage information. We may automatically collect IP address, device and browser type, operating system, app or web identifiers, log data, crash information, pages or screens viewed, feature interactions, timestamps, and approximate location inferred from technical information.
Subscription and transaction information. If paid parent subscriptions are offered, we may receive purchase status, plan, renewal, transaction identifiers, and limited billing metadata from payment processors or app stores. We do not need to store full payment-card numbers when payment is handled by a third-party processor.
2. How We Collect Information
We collect information directly from you when you create or edit an account, complete onboarding, submit a childcare request, set availability, invite or connect with people, communicate through the Service, contact support, or otherwise provide information.
We may collect information automatically through the Service and receive information from service providers that support authentication, communications, hosting, analytics, mapping, address search, payments, notifications, or security.
We may receive information about you from another user, for example when someone invites you, identifies a network relationship, provides a reference or review, or includes you in legitimate childcare-related information. We may limit what is displayed until a connection or other privacy condition is satisfied.
3. How We Use Information
- Provide, operate, personalize, and maintain the Service.
- Authenticate users and link verified phone numbers to accounts.
- Process Broker requests and identify potentially eligible caregivers based on request criteria, availability, location, network context, and user preferences.
- Coordinate and confirm childcare requests, response windows, urgent requests, cancellations, schedules, and related communications.
- Enable appropriate network connections, invitations, referrals, reviews, and trust or safety features.
- Display child, household, or location information to an appropriate caregiver when reasonably necessary for a current or upcoming childcare arrangement, subject to product privacy controls.
- Provide customer support, troubleshoot errors, prevent fraud or abuse, investigate safety concerns, and enforce our Terms.
- Process subscriptions and administer trials, referral incentives, or promotions.
- Analyze and improve the Service, including product performance and feature usage.
- Send service-related communications and, where permitted and appropriately consented to, marketing communications.
- Comply with law, legal process, and legitimate safety or security requirements.
4. How We Disclose Information
Other users. We disclose information to parents, caregivers, and network connections as necessary for the features you use. The information visible to another user may depend on role, relationship, request status, and privacy or safety rules.
Service providers. We may disclose information to vendors that provide cloud hosting, databases, authentication, SMS or communications, email delivery, push notifications, analytics, mapping, address search, payment processing, security, customer support, and similar services. They may process information only for permitted business purposes under their agreements with us.
Legal and safety disclosures. We may disclose information when reasonably necessary to comply with law or legal process; respond to lawful requests; investigate fraud, abuse, or safety concerns; protect a child or another person; enforce agreements; or protect the rights, property, and security of Babysitter Broker and its users.
Business transactions. Information may be transferred as part of a merger, financing, acquisition, reorganization, sale of assets, or similar transaction, subject to applicable law.
With your direction or consent. We may disclose information when you direct us to do so or provide consent.
We do not sell personal information for money. If our practices ever constitute "sale," "sharing," or targeted advertising under an applicable U.S. state privacy law, we will provide any legally required notice and opt-out mechanism before engaging in that practice.
5. Children's Information
Babysitter Broker is intended for adults and does not permit children under 13 to create accounts or independently submit personal information. Child information in the Service is provided by an adult parent or guardian for the purpose of arranging and safely providing childcare.
Parents and guardians should provide only information reasonably necessary for childcare. Babysitter Broker may use progressive disclosure so that sensitive details, such as a precise home address or detailed child profile, are made available only when appropriate for a request or confirmed sit and may become unavailable after the engagement ends.
If we learn that personal information has been collected directly from a child under 13 in a manner subject to the Children's Online Privacy Protection Act (COPPA), we will take appropriate steps to delete it or obtain any consent required by law. Parents may contact us regarding information about their children using the contact details below.
6. Location Information
We may collect a city, neighborhood, service area, address, or other location information you provide. Depending on product settings and permissions, we may also process device-derived location information to support nearby matching, distance calculations, address functionality, or safety features.
We seek to limit precise location disclosure to situations where it is reasonably necessary for the Service. Past childcare engagements may show only broader location information rather than a precise address.
7. Contacts, Invitations, and Network Privacy
If you choose to invite or connect with another person, we may process the contact information you provide for that purpose. Where device-contact access is offered, we will request platform permission and describe the feature before accessing contacts.
We will design contact-powered features to minimize unnecessary collection. Contact information supplied for invitations should not automatically become broadly visible to other users.
Users should not provide another person's sensitive information or use invitation features for spam, harassment, or unrelated marketing.
8. SMS and Text the Broker
If you use SMS features, we may collect your mobile number, message content, timestamps, delivery information, and related metadata. Text the Broker may use your verified mobile number to associate an SMS conversation with your Babysitter Broker account and translate messages into the same underlying request workflow used by the in-app Broker.
We may use third-party communications providers to transmit or receive SMS. Those providers process message and routing data on our behalf. Message and data rates may apply.
Your mobile number and your SMS opt-in information, including text-messaging consent and message content, are never sold, rented, or shared with any third parties or affiliates for their own marketing or promotional purposes. Communications providers receive only what is needed to deliver messages on our behalf.
Consent to recurring service text messages is separate, optional, and off by default, and is not a condition of creating, purchasing, or using the Service. It is given through an affirmative action in your notification preferences, and we keep a record of your member ID, mobile number, the time of your opt-in, where it was given, the disclosure version shown, and your preference. If you opt out, we keep that history and record the opt-out time rather than deleting it. One-time sign-in verification codes are separate from recurring messages.
Message frequency varies. Message and data rates may apply. Reply STOP to opt out or HELP for help. The complete opt-in flow is shown at /sms-consent.
8A. Google Calendar and Google User Data
If you choose to connect a Google Calendar, Babysitter Broker asks Google for permission to (a) read your calendar events and free/busy times, and (b) create and manage only the events and calendars that Babysitter Broker itself creates. We also receive your Google account email address and basic profile so we can show which account is connected.
How we use it. We read your calendar only to show your schedule on your Babysitter Broker calendar and to avoid asking you to babysit, or suggesting a sitter, when you are already busy. We write to your calendar only to add, update, or remove confirmed sits you arrange through Babysitter Broker. We do not edit or delete any event Babysitter Broker did not create.
What we do not do. We do not sell Google user data, use it for advertising, share it with other members (other members never see your event titles or details), or use it to train artificial-intelligence or machine-learning models. People at Babysitter Broker do not read your calendar data except with your permission, for security reasons, or when required by law.
Storage and deletion. Google access tokens are stored encrypted and used only by our servers. We keep only the event times and identifiers needed to keep synced sits up to date. You can disconnect Google at any time from Connect calendar in the app, or revoke access at myaccount.google.com/permissions; when you disconnect, we stop accessing your calendar and delete the stored connection. You can also ask us to delete this data by contacting us (see Contact Us).
Babysitter Broker's use and transfer of information received from Google APIs adheres to the Google API Services User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements.
9. Cookies, Analytics, and Similar Technologies
We may use cookies, local storage, SDKs, pixels, logs, or similar technologies to keep you signed in, remember settings, protect accounts, understand feature performance, diagnose problems, and improve the Service.
If we introduce advertising or cross-context behavioral advertising, we will update this Policy and provide choices required by applicable law.
10. Data Retention
We retain personal information for as long as reasonably necessary to provide the Service, maintain account and transaction records, support safety and fraud prevention, resolve disputes, enforce agreements, and comply with legal obligations.
We may retain certain records after account deletion where reasonably necessary for legal compliance, safety investigations, fraud prevention, chargebacks, dispute resolution, or the establishment, exercise, or defense of legal claims.
Sensitive child, household, and precise-location information should be retained only as long as reasonably necessary for the childcare and safety purposes for which it was collected. Babysitter Broker should implement product-specific retention periods before launch and document them internally.
11. Security
We use administrative, technical, and organizational safeguards designed to protect personal information. These may include access controls, authentication, encryption in transit, vendor controls, logging, and data minimization.
No method of transmission or storage is completely secure. Users should protect their account credentials and immediately report suspected unauthorized access.
12. Your Choices and Privacy Rights
You may update certain profile and account information through the Service.
You may request access to, correction of, or deletion of personal information, subject to identity verification and legal exceptions.
You may manage device permissions, such as contacts, notifications, camera, photos, microphone, or location, through your device or browser settings where those permissions are used.
You may opt out of marketing email or marketing text messages using the instructions provided in those communications. Service-related messages may still be sent when necessary to provide requested functionality.
Residents of certain U.S. states may have additional rights, which can include rights to know or access personal information, correct inaccuracies, delete information, obtain a portable copy, opt out of certain sales, sharing, targeted advertising, or profiling, limit certain uses of sensitive personal information, and appeal a denied privacy request. The exact rights depend on applicable law.
13. California Privacy Notice
If Babysitter Broker becomes subject to the California Consumer Privacy Act, as amended, California residents may have rights to know, access, correct, and delete certain personal information; opt out of the sale or sharing of personal information; limit certain uses or disclosures of sensitive personal information where applicable; and receive nondiscriminatory treatment for exercising privacy rights.
The categories described in Section 1 summarize the types of personal information we may collect. The business purposes described in Section 3 summarize why we use them, and Section 4 describes categories of recipients.
Babysitter Broker does not currently intend to sell personal information for money or share personal information for cross-context behavioral advertising. If that changes, we will provide legally required notices and opt-out mechanisms, including recognition of applicable opt-out preference signals where required.
14. U.S. State Privacy Requests
To exercise a privacy right, contact us at support@thebabysitterbroker.com or use an in-product privacy or account-deletion tool if available. We may need to verify your identity and authority before completing a request.
Where applicable law provides an appeal right, you may appeal a denied request by replying to our decision or using the appeal method we identify in that response.
Authorized agents may submit requests where permitted by law, subject to verification requirements.
15. Third-Party Links and Services
The Service may link to or integrate with third-party services. Their privacy practices are governed by their own policies. We encourage you to review those policies before providing information directly to a third party.
16. Changes to This Privacy Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy to reflect changes in the Service, our practices, or applicable law. We will post the updated version and revise the effective date. We will provide additional notice or obtain consent where required for material changes.
17. Contact Us

If you have a concern involving a child's information, include enough information for us to identify the relevant account or record without sending unnecessary sensitive information by email.
